How Are You Refueling?

After a long, hot, and grueling workout how are you refueling? Do you eat right after? Are you waiting a couple of hours? What does your post workout meal look like? These are all important questions when an individual is trying to dial in their nutrition to reach optimal performance and health.

First, when we work out we are breaking down muscle tissue. In order to rebuild that muscle tissue, one must digest protein. For the ladies who are thinking extra protein will make them look “manly”, that is far from the truth. If you want to get stronger, build lean muscle, and decrease fat, you must take in a sufficient amount of protein every day.

The best way to do so is to drink 1/3 of a protein shake before a workout, and the rest right after. We recommend mixing simple carbohydrates with lean protein powder to regain energy, replenish glycogen storage, and increase lean muscle mass. The amount of simple carbohydrates and protein vary depending on your lean body mass (LBM).
